Unit 3: Time of Death
Duration of Days: 20
LP 3.1 Students will be able to (I can) use the cause and effect relationship to obtain, evaluate, and communicate how forensic scientists to Processing/Testing Evidence to determine the cause, manner, and mechanism of death.
LP 3.2 Students will be able to (I can) use mathematics and computational thinking and stability and change to determine the time of death.
LP 3.3 Students will be able to (I can) use scale proportion and quantity to analyze and interpret data to determine the time of death.
STUDENTS WILL:
Students will be able to estimate a decedent's post-mortem interval (PMI) by analyzing biological changes—including algor, livor, and rigor mortis, and forensic entomology data —while accounting for environmental variables that alter the rate of decomposition.
