Lesson Objective

Identify and contrast mutualistic, parasitic, and commensal relationships

How do interactions between different species (mutualism, commensalism, and parasitism) shape the structure and health of an ecosystem?
How do organisms in a symbiotic relationship benefit or get harmed, and why are these interactions critical for their survival?

HS-LS2-2 (Ecosystem social interactions).

Comparing and contrasting concepts (definitions of interaction types).

Using specific real-world examples such as Coral Bleaching , students identify specific symbiotic pairs and analyze how the relationships affects the ecosystem

See "Materials / Resources / Text / Speakers" field

Students provide an interaction between two species and the class must vote on whether it is Mutualism, Commensalism, or Parasitism based on the benefit/harm evidence provided.
