The structure and electrochemical function of neurons; the hierarchical organization of the Central vs. Peripheral nervous systems; the mechanism of the action potential; and the role of feedback loops in sensory perception and motor response.

Model signal transmission at the synapse; conduct sensory threshold investigations; analyze the effects of neurotoxins on cellular communication; and map brain regions to functional outputs.

Students will construct interactive models of neural pathways, draft formal lab reports on reflex arc speeds, and present "Case Study Diagnoses" for neurological disorders.
