Lesson Objective

Students will exercise autonomy by selecting their own materials, colors, and tools from a "Curated Menu."

1. Which tool feels best in your hand? 2. What color makes you feel happy today?

Choice, Preference, Option, Select

VA:Cr1.2.HS1 (Shape an artistic investigation based on personal preference).

Self-Determination: Critical for transition planning and self-advocacy.

Setting up "Choice Stations" where students decide between two mediums (e.g., Clay vs. Markers). Purpose: To foster independence. DOK Level 3.

Ordering from a menu; voting; choosing an outfit.

Fear of making the "wrong" choice.

Use Choice Boards with physical samples (swatches) glued to them. Use Eye-Gaze boards for non-verbal students.

When asked "What did you pick today?", the student will point to or name their chosen materials, showing a clear connection between their choice and the finished product.
