Lesson 3: Intuitive Collage Day 3
Duration of Days: 1
Lesson Objective
Students will practice Resilience by intentionally altering or "editing" their work, mimicking the unpredictable nature of life.
How do you feel when you have to change something you liked? How does "letting go" of a piece make room for a better one?
Subtraction: Removing elements to improve the whole. Resilience: The capacity to recover quickly from difficulties (or changes).
VA:Cr3.1.HS: Reflect on, re-engage, and revise works of art in response to personal vision.
Revision Process: Understanding that the first draft is rarely the final truth; revision is where the meaning is found.
Description: Cutting into the work. Purpose: Managing "change-anxiety." DOK Level 4: Extended Thinking.
How city walls have layers of old posters and graffiti, creating a "history" of the space.
"I'm ruining it." Correction: You are "complicating" it. Real life isn't a flat surface; it’s a series of layers.
Offer "translucent" materials (tissue paper/vellum) for students afraid to fully hide their work.
Reflection: One sentence on what they "lost" and what they "gained" in today's session.
Blades, cutting mats, scrap paper, tissue paper.
