The Power of Imagination: Students will know that an abstract shape can be a "seed" for an idea or a story.

Individual Perspective: Students will understand that their personal perception is unique and that seeing something different from their peer is a strength, not an error.

Symmetry Mechanics: Students will know that folding a wet medium creates a mirrored (symmetrical) result.

The Blot: Apply ink or high-flow paint to the midline of their journal page and fold it to create a "reveal."

The Investigation: Rotate their journal 360 degrees to look at the blot from different angles to "find" an image.

The Reflection: Use the blank space around the blot to document their finding using their preferred expressive method (writing, stamping, or drawing).

  • Interpretive Choice: The student will successfully identify at least one recognizable object or feeling "within" the blot.

  • Process Recall: When asked, the student can demonstrate or point to the action (folding the paper) that created the symmetry.

  • Communicative Output: The student will share their finding with a peer or teacher by saying, signing, or pointing to a representation of their interpretation (e.g., "I see a mask" or "It looks like a storm").
