Students will understand the relationship between the three fundamental settings of the exposure triangle (ISO, Shutter Speed, and Aperture) and how to manipulate them to achieve a balanced exposure. Students will understand that fine art photography relies heavily on the artist's understanding and implementation of technical skills to correct or intentionally alter an image's exposure.

This is a DOK level 2 skill. Selecting and adjusting multiple settings to balance an exposure requires a basic understanding of the camera settings and how to manipulate them to achieve a specific outcome.

When students study photography and become more adept at technical skills; they are more likely to grasp differences within a piece of artwork as well as relevance. Gaining complete control over manual exposure allows students to accurately capture diverse lighting environments, preserving the authentic atmosphere and context of different spaces.

It is easier to use a different setting. It is easier to let the camera choice the settings.

Teacher or para will help student change setting from one to another.

Advanced learners will work on experimenting changing two out of three settings.

• Students will complete at least one skill development assignment, as well as, one project. Portfolio will be submitted for assessment.

• Can the student demonstrate their understanding of the relationship between three fundamental settings and obtain balance in a photo?

• Do they demonstrate the understanding that if you can not change the ISO, they have to change another side of the triangle, you usually have to adjust one or both of the others to keep the exposure consistent?

• Each student will be provided with a DSLR camera or a higher-grade camera.

• Studio lighting setups.

• Objects to photograph or a location to photograph.
