Students will learn what a grey card is and how to use it. They will also see how applying this method can effect the photographs.

What is a grey card? What value on a grey scale is it? Why was it invented and why do we still use it today?

Students will need to analyze the situation for possible outcomes.

Level four: Students will apply their knowledge of a grey card and how it effects their photographs. After creating their photos they will analyze how using a grey card effected them.

Examples of current images that have the wrong white balance setting. For example if you observe inconsistent or inaccurate color balance the gray card was not properly used. This can also be seen by looking at the histogram.

Students may think that all light is the same or that the camera sets the lighting for you.

The student maybe helped with the settings or shown inaccurate color balances.

Teacher will observe the students ability to move from one setting to another. This skill will be applied in the next lesson.
