Students will understand that responses to music are shaped by analysis, context, and artistic intent. They will know how musical elements, text, diction, and stylistic context inform interpretation and evaluation of performances, including their own.

Students will independently listen to, describe, analyze, interpret, and evaluate musical performances, focusing on their own ensemble work. They will use advanced musical vocabulary, analyze text and diction, and lead discussions to refine individual and ensemble performance.

Students demonstrate learning through advanced listening tasks, written and verbal critique, student-led rehearsal feedback, and evaluation using established criteria. Evidence includes listening assessments, discussions, performance reflections, and analytical evaluations.
