Students will understand that responses to music are shaped by listening, analysis, context, and personal experience. They will know how musical elements, structure, and expressive intent inform interpretation and evaluation of performances, including their own.

Students will listen to, describe, analyze, interpret, and evaluate musical performances, primarily their own and their ensemble’s work. They will use musical vocabulary to identify elements of music, reflect on performances, and contribute to the rehearsal process through feedback and discussion.

Students demonstrate learning through listening assessments, written and verbal reflections, rehearsal feedback, and evaluation of performances. Evidence includes listening tasks, critique discussions, performance reflections, and use of established criteria to improve individual and ensemble performance.
