Unit 3: SONGWRITING

Students will understand how chord progressions, rhythm, melody, and structure contribute to songwriting and musical communication. Students will understand how collaboration, rehearsal, and creative decision-making support the songwriting process.

Students will create original riffs, chord progressions, and short songs collaboratively. Students will apply basic chord progression concepts, develop song structures, rehearse original music, and perform collaborative compositions.

Students demonstrate learning through riff-writing exercises, chord progression activities, collaborative rehearsal, songwriting drafts, peer feedback, and a collaborative songwriting performance project
