Students will understand that responses to music are shaped by listening, analysis, and context. They will know how musical elements such as tone, intonation, articulation, balance, texture, and structure inform interpretation and evaluation of performances, including their own.
Students will listen to, describe, analyze, interpret, and evaluate musical performances, focusing on their own and their ensemble’s work. They will use musical vocabulary to identify elements, reflect on performance quality, and contribute feedback to improve rehearsal outcomes.
Students demonstrate learning through listening assessments, written and verbal reflections, rehearsal feedback, and evaluation using established criteria. Evidence includes listening tasks, critique discussions, performance reflections, and application of feedback to improve performance.
