-How to recognize and categorize films by genre
-Elements of the focus genre and their effectiveness on the audience
-Characters, plot, and themes of 1-2 films in the chosen genre
-How to write well-developed argumentative analysis paragraphs
-Research films in the focus genre
-Actively view and take notes on chosen films from a variety of years and representing diverse perspectives
-Analyze characterization, plot, and themes of the chosen films
-Recognize film techniques used in the chosen genre, and analyze the effectiveness of film techniques used
-Write well-developed argumentative analyses in paragraphs
-Compare and contrast films within and across genres
-Read and annotate an article(s) on the specific films studied and/or the focus genre in general
Notes identifying film techniques and their effect on the audience
Annotations of articles about specific films and/or the focus genre
